GTA 6 is bringing us two playable characters for the first time in the series, and Jason Duval is one half of this criminal duo. If you are curious about who Jason is, what his backstory looks like, and how he fits into the game, keep on reading. We will show you everything you need to know about Jason in GTA 6.
Who is Jason Duval in GTA 6?
Jason Duval is one of the two main characters you will play as in GTA 6. He is a guy who just wants things to be simple, but life keeps throwing him curveballs. Jason actually grew up around criminals and con artists, so that world isn't new to him. After his teenage years got a big messy, he joined the Army hoping to turn things around and leave that life behind.

Unfortunately, things didn't work out the way Jason hoped. After his time in the military, he ended up in the Leonida Keys working for local drug runners. It's basically the same criminal world he tried to escape, just in different location. Now he is looking for something new, something better, but he's not sure what that looks like yet.
Jason's Background and Military Experience
Jason's military background makes him different from typical GTA protagonists. His time in the Army gave hime training and skills that most street criminals don't have. So, when you are playing as him in the game, you might notice this in the gameplay that he knows how to handle weapons properly, plan tactical operations, and stay calm under pressure.

Jason's Living Situation and Relationship with Lucia
Based on the trailers we have seen posted by Rockstar Games, we know that Jason lives in a stilt house in Key Lento, which is part of Leonida. He doesn't actually own this place though, because a veteran drug smuggler named Brian Heder let Jason stay there. However, this is why Jason is stuck doing criminal work just to have a place to live, and he is trying to figure out how to break that cycle.

Meeting Lucia Caminos changes everything for Jason. The game describe Jason as both a partner in crime and an emotional anchor for Lucia. She's the other main character in GTA 6, and she has a more risk-taking personality. He is actually not sure if partnering up with Lucia is the best decision he's ever made or the worst one.
In short, Jason is described as the classic Rockstar character who is trying to escape his violent past but constantly getting pulled back in. In the trailers released so far, you can see Jason and Lucia robbing different places across the massive Leonida.

The Bonnie and Clyde connections is important for understanding Jason's role, too. In the real story, this couple's story was complicated, romantic, and ultimately tragic. Rockstar seems to be using that template for Jason and Lucia.
GTA 6 Jason's Voice Actor
Rockstar Games hasn't officially confirmed who voices Jason Duval yet, but fans have been doing detective work and the evidence points pretty strongly toward Dylan Rourke. This theory gained traction after a clip shared by @LegacyKillaHD showed Rourke's voice work in past projects, and many fans noticed his voice tone matches Jason's in the GTA 6 trailer almost perfectly.
What makes the Dylan Rourke theory even more convincing is that he looks similar to Jason's character model. Rockstar typically likes to cast actors who aren't super famous for their main characters, which fits Rourke's profile.
Some fans initially speculated that Troy Baker, the famous actor who played Joel in The Last of Us, might be voicing Jason. However, that theory doesn't hold much weight. Baker and Jason don't look very similar, and he's denied involvement in the project. So right now, Dylan Rourke remains the strongest candidate, though we're still waiting for Rockstar to make it official.
Jason represents a slightly different type of GTA protagonist. While characters like Trevor or Tommy Vercetti were over-the-top violent, Jason seems more grounded. He is a criminal, sure, but he's one who questions what he's doing rather than embracing it fully. Are you excited to play as Jason Duval when GTA 6 releases this year?
